Time by Design Helping Others

Time by Design is committed to helping others. 20% of the purchase price of each CyberClock will be contributed to The Charter High School for Architecture And Design.

As of March 10, 2001, Time by Design will work with The Charter High School for Architecture and Design (CHAD) of Philadelphia, PA. Chad was founded in Sept. 1999 by the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects as its Legacy Project for the year 2000. The first charter school of its kind, Chad was created as a project of enduring and substantial value to the youth of Philadelphia. CHAD is an academic, college-preparatory 4-year high school of excellence and no excuses. It is a tuition-free, independent, public high school, seeking to help remedy the under representation of minorities and women in the design professions. CHAD is intended to be a model that can be replicated in other inner cities, capturing creativity and nurturing disadvantaged and underserved urban youth, encouraging them to pursue careers in all aspects of design. CHAD has 320 students, about 90% of whom are minorities, and will proudly graduate its first class in June 2001. The celebrated author and illustrator, David Macaulay, will be CHAD's first Commencement speaker.

CHAD is chartered by the state of Pennsylvania and receives a per pupil allotment (PPA) for each student matriculated. The PPA does not cover all costs. To succeed in its mission, CHAD must receive other support to supplement the PPA. CHAD is a 501-C-3 organization.
